This week’s artifact is a soup tureen from the early 19th century. The artifact belonged to Jacob Keefer, who was a member of the party that accompanied Hon. William Hamilton Merritt on the first passage of a ship through the First Welland Canal. This tureen is the only known artifact associated with this event.
