This is Part 3 in a Museum Chat Live! podcast mini-series detailing the Fallen Workers of the Welland Canal. Click to listen to the earlier episodes in this series.
In this episode, we explore the experience of immigrants working on the canal and the particular challenges they faced. The Fallen Workers of the Welland Canal came from sixteen different countries, with many immigrating from Italy, Austria, Hungary, Poland and the Ukraine. In this episode, we share the devastating stories of two Fallen Workers, both under the age of twenty and both of immigrant families: Estafy Eliashevich and Antonio Collini.
This episode was produced using primary source material as well as the Fallen Workers series published in the St. Catharines Standard & Niagara Falls Reviews. For more information on the Fallen Workers discussed in this podcast episode, please follow the links below.
